NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic tendomycin produced by fungi belonging to Streptomyces genus; specific rotation [alpha]<26.5>D: around +21.6 deg. (c=1.0, DMSO); constituent element: at least C, H, O and N; appearance: white pellet; m.p.: 136- 139 deg.C; molecular formula: C53H101-103N3O20-21. USE:Antibiotic preparation. Inhibits the growth of fungi, acid-fast bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria, and moreover inhibits the increase of tumor cells. PROCESS:A fungus belonging to Streptomyces genus, e.g. Streptomyces hygroscopicus (FERM-P No.4356) collected at Tendo district in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, is cultured, to obtain the antibiotic tendomycin from the cultured substance. |
