<p>The invention relates to an apparatus for mixing or atomizing fluids without moving parts. The apparatus includes, in combination, a hollow tube having a substantially cylindrical inner wall. A core member, which has an outer surface, is located in the tube substantially coaxial with but slightly spaced from the inner wall. The core member has, extending inwardly from its surface, at least one non-intersecting helical channel extending substantially continuously around the length of the core member. A channel-forming means is secured to the core member and extends round the length of the core member in substantially continuous contact with the outer surface of the core member. The channel-forming means is also in frictional contact with the inner wall, such that the core member and the channel-forming means are removably secured in the hollow member essentially only by the frictional contact and are removable as an integral unit from the hollow tube. The channel-forming means comprises one layer of at least one non-intersecting helical winding opposite to the first helical direction, the direction of each winding in the layer being opposite to the direction of each channel in the core member.</p> |
