PURPOSE:To provide a shaft furnace in which the distribution of the amt. of a flowing reducing gas can be made uniform by forming a core chamber with a partition wall suspended from the top of the furnace and controlling the amt. of exhaust gas from a main exhaust port installed at the top of the core chamber and that of exhaust gas from an auxiliary exhaust port installed at the top of the circular chamber. CONSTITUTION:Raw material W in raw material hopper 6 is introduced into feed pipes 4 from raw material feed holes 6a and dispersion released into core chamber 3 with raw material distributors 15. When the level of raw material W reaches lower end 2a of partition wall 2, material W begins to accumulate in chamber 3 surrounded with wall 2 and the accumulation is continued until the upper level of material W reaches the lower ends of pipes 4. At this state, a hot reducing gas is blown from the lower part of the furnace, and the openings of flow control valves 13, 14 are suitably set to control the distribution of the amt. of the flowing gas. For example, by making the amt. of exhaust gas from main exhaust port 5 larger than that of exhaust gas from auxiliary exhaust port 9, the reducing gas concentrically flows toward the center of the furnace. |
