The ground-consolidating anchorage may be used to tie back sheet pile retaining walls (1) etc., and is installed by a process utilising a pilot tube (4). The tube (4) is driven to the depth required and through an opening (2) in the wall (1) and an anchorage shaft is placed in the tube. The interior of the tube is then pressure grouted and the tube is withdrawn. The top of the tube is maintained securely sealed throughout, and grout is gradually injected as the tube is withdrawn, with the shaft constantly pressed onto an abandoned drilling head. The top of the tube is sealed to prevent water ingress and the seal may be effected by a water-sensitive foaming and expanding agent. The agent may be injected (33) in the top of the hole formed in the soil to form a plug which is activated by the ground water and effects the seal.
|
