The birefringent plate acts as a partial rectilinear polariser. The plate (PHB) is formed by exposing a holographic plate to a, uniform light source (S1). The plate is then developed, fixed and then rinsed and dried in the normal manner and re-exposed and bleached. This is followed by exposure to polarised light (P1) source via the subject material (T). The plate can be recovered to the bleached state and reused. The final light source can be a laser working at about one watt through a lens (L1) and swept across the plate as lines or points.
|
