The vacuum cleaning housing has a transverse partition (6) to divide the pressure chamber (2) containing the suction fan (3) from the suction chamber (4) containing the dust bag. A resilient support ring (11) containing the motor fan unit is mounted in the pressure chamber (2) and matches the contours including the lid-shaped upper part (8) of the housing. When the latter (8) is placed on the lower housing shell (1) and air-tight separation is produced between the suction and pressure chambers. The support ring (11) pref. encloses the suction fan (3) in keyed engagement and is held clamped in the housing with a similar keyed engagement.
