The fork lift truck has a main transmission driven by the engine and linked to the wheel by a main drive shaft. A second drive shaft links an electric motor to the final part of the transmission to drive the vehicle from the battery for short periods. The hydraulic pump for the hoist is also driven from the final part of the transmission. The system enables the truck to be used for short operations without having to start the engine. It can thus be used at night without disturbance. The battery is recharged when the engine is used.
