In the case of the iron core (I), part of which is shown, for a transformer, the two limb cores (1) and the core part (2) can be seen. The laminate stack (1) is formed from laminated individual sheet-metal laminates (1a), and the yoke intermediate part is formed from a plurality of laminated individual sheet-metal laminates (2a). The individual sheet-metal laminates are connected to one another by means of a welding seam, the core parts (1a) being connected via a welding seam (1b) and the core part (2a) via a welding seam (2b). The laminate stacks (1 and 2) are located opposite one another via abutment points (1c, 2c), a changing magnetic reluctance being provided between the individual abutment points (1c and 2c, and 2c and 1c respectively), which magnetic reluctance is formed by a changing separation (3). An intermediate layer (6) is provided between the abutment points. This iron core for electrical machines, such as transformers, inductor coils or the like, is distinguished by cost-effective production and improved operation, specifically especially in the case of short assembly times, easy assembly and the maintenance of a reliable, predetermined position of the individual sheet-metal laminates with respect to one another. <IMAGE>
