<p>Powder materials are metered and fed to the hopper of plastic processing plant, using a feeder with narrow base, a replaceable star wheel which rotates on a horizontal shaft in a cylindrical space in the feeder housing and which is the feeder outlet but leads to the hopper. The star wheel is held by a removable mounting, open to the material feed side and to its outlet, of the same radius at the top as the wheel; between the top inlet and bottom outlet there is a gap to the wheel; and the material cannot drop to the outlet but must first pass round on the star wheel whose surface grooves are closed at the ends. Any particle size materials can be used without clogging the star wheel.</p> |
