The installation comprises a hollow spherical shell (1) floating on the water, which is mounted to revolve on a fixed horizontal shaft (2), retained by moorings (4). This shell comprises vanes (5) for driving it using the current of the water and houses electrical generators (7) the stator (7<2>) of which is securely fastened to the fixed shaft (2) and the rotor (7<1>) driven by an internal ring gear (15) of the shell interacting with a drive pinion (16) securely fastened to the rotor (7<1>). The installation may be located on a stretch of water, practically without detriment to the site. <IMAGE>
