PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of extraction and purification of plant constituents, by separating a salt before treatment with an ion exchange resin, and by returning the salt to an extractant for reuse to purify a plant extract with an adsorbent, formed by electrolysis, and the ion exchange resin. CONSTITUTION:Impurities are removed by adding common salt, etc. to a plant extract, e.g. stevia or Hydrangea leaves, to give electrical condutivity, or preferably by forming a metal hydroxide of high adsorptivity with electrolysis using Al as electrodes. The common salt is then separated by preferably electrodialysis and returned to the extractant or solution. The desalted extract is purified by an ion exchange resin to give active constituents. EFFECT:Prolonged life of the ion exchange resin, and the salt formed in regeneration of the resin can be reused. Electrolysis permits easy waste water treatment and continuous operation. |
