1425124 Centralizing and support railway couplings MINISTERIUM FUR VERKEHRSWESEN 21 May 1973 [15 Aug 1972] 17687/73 Heading B7T [Also in Division F2] A centralizing and support device for an automatic railway vehicle coupling consists of opposing rods 1, 2 which respectively contact the coupling arm and vehicle chassis and extend into a threaded two-part housing 5, the rod ends overlapping within the housing and being of semicircular section, and each rod having rigid therewith and spaced therealong a set of pressure plates 9, which, in the normal condition of the device, in contact with a set of magnetic plates 8 and are attracted thereto, so that under compression the rods slide relative to one another against the magnetic attractive forces and against the repellent forces as each pressure plate approaches an adjacent magnetic plate. Spacers 4 and 10 provide resilience in the device.
