DEVICE FOR DRY QUENCHING OF COKE AND OTHER COMBUSTIBLE LUMPY MATERIALS

A device for dry quenching coke and other combustible lumpy materials, comprising a vertical chamber made of refractory material with charging and discharging holes located respectively in the upper and lower portions of the chamber separated into two zones by gas outflow holes located along the periphery approximately in the middle height portion of the chamber. The upper zone is an antechamber, while the lower zone is a quenching chamber proper. Located in the lower portion of the quenching chamber are slots for the inflow of cooling gas into the quenching chamber. The quenching chamber accommodates a divider of the flow of material being treated, positioned on the vertical axis of the quenching chamber through its entire height, resulting in the quenching chamber being of circularshaped cross-section. Cooling gas inflow passages are provided in the upper portion of the divider of the flow of material being treated.
