PURPOSE:To attain a low cost, miniaturization, and light weight by reducing the number of parts by fixing a semiconductor laser or a beam splitter mounted in such a way that it can be turned freely so that the polarizing plane of a laser beam made incident on the beam splitter can form a constant angle for that of the beam splitter. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser 1 is mounted in a state where it can be turned freely, and the polarizing plane of the laser beam is rotated so as to form the constant angle phi=45 deg. for a P-polarizing plane(or S-polarizing plane) as the polarizing plane of the beam splitter 3, and is fixed at that position. Therefore, the P-polarizing plane of the laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser 1 is made incident on the beam splitter 3 by forming the angle phi=45 deg.. As a result, it is possible to maximize the intensity of a magneto-optical signal, and to increase detecting sensitivity more than ever, and furthermore, the laser beam receives a Kerr effect by reflection from a magneto-optical disk 5 and is rotated by + or -thetak, and transmits a Wollaston prism 9, then, is introduced to a photodetector 10. In such a way, it is possible to attain the low cost, the miniaturization, and the light weight by reducing the number of parts. |
