Fungicidal and insecticidal 1-(beta-aryl)ethylimidazole ethers and amines. N5-. And their acid addn. Salts are new cmpds. of formula (I): (where R3, R4, and R5 = H or (1-6C) alkyl; X = O or NH; n = 0, 1 or 2; R1 = H, Me, or Et; R2 = H or Me; Ar = Ph opt. substd. by 1 or more hal., (1-6C) alkyl, or (1-6C) O alkyl, thienyl, or halothienyl; Ar1 = Ph opt. substd. by 1 or more hal., (1-6C) alkyl, (1-6C) O alkyl, CN, NO2 and/or NH2, or an alpha-tetralyl residue; with the provisos' that (a) If X = NH, R5 = H; (b) If Ar1 is substd. by NO2 or NH2, X = O and n = 0; (c) If Ar1 = alpha-tetralyl, X = NH and n = 0; and (d) If X = O and Ar opt. substd. by hal, (1-6C) alkyl, (1-6C) O alkyl, and/or CN, then n is not = to 0). |
