The electronic ignition current (23) includes a constant energy signal generator (28) and a stabilising and step up voltage circuit (29). The generator circuit (28) has input (30) and output (31) stages. The input stage (30) includes a pnp transistor (32) connected as common emitter, whose base and emitter are both connected to the positive input terminal via resistors (33, 34). Its collector (32') is connected to the output stage. The base is also connected to a terminal of a switch (24) via a resistor (35) and to the input terminal via a tunnel diode (36). The power stage has a high voltage npn transistor (37), connected as common collector. Its emitter is directly connected to the collector ot the pnp transistor via a resistor (38) and also to the negative terminal via a second tunnel diode.
