<p>A 'solid' wheel comprises an assembly of a circular moulding with an integral hub and crown and a complementary disc which covers the open side of the main moulding. The main moulding is stiffened by integral radial ribs. A solid tread is mouled around the crown of the wheel and its borders. Used for wheels for low speed (i.e. =8 km/h) vehicles, e.g. carts. The hollow wheel has a higher stiffness/wt. ratio than a solid wheel structure, and requires less moulding material.</p> |
