The telephone receiver has a support (1) on which rests the receiver (2) which contains the microphone, earpiece and keyboard. Switches (5, 6) on the base support are used to obtain a tone on the line either by lifting the receiver or by manually operating the switch. The base is equipped with luminous indicators (71, 72). The receiver has also luminous indicators (83, 84) on its upper face. A digital display (85) completes the indications necessary for composition of a call number. Electronic circuits necessary for operation of the receiver unit are arranged inside the receiver away from the keyboard and display elements to which they are associated. The plane of the keyboard is inclined at an angle between 15 and 80 degs. with respect to the base of the support.
