The detachable name plate for mounting on the side of a vehicle includes a base made of metal oor plastic moulded to match the contour of the vehicles bodywork. This is held by rivets or suitable adhesive. A groove (G) cut around the frame of the plate receives a sealing strip of rubber or plastic. The display panel lies over the frame and is held in place by the sealing strip which is gripped by an outer frame. The outer frame is attached to the base frame by a number of fixing pegs (E) which pass through both the frames.
