<p>The apparatus is used to apply a force to an injured limb. It comprises a drum(11), one end(15) of a cable(13) being fixed to it. The other end of the cable passes over pulleys(16, 17) and is attached to the limb(18). The drum is driven by the output side(25) of an electromagnetic clutch(23), the input side(24) being driven by an electric motor(25) through a speed reduction box. The force on the drum is controlled by the current(26, 33) applied to the clutch, this current being adjusted by a potentiometer(28) or a photoelectric cell system.</p> |
