The plate spring column is pre-loaded between plates having no separate guide and with a locking device to keep it under load during transport before building into the load system to be sprung. The load system to be sprung is typically a stationary support for a load tending to uncontrollable movement in three dimensions. The plates are coupled together by stirrups engaging together and preventing release of the load typically by means of chain links.
