The container is particularly for waste glass or other refuse having two or more chambers separated by vertical partitions each with a loading hatch for the material. Each chamber has a floor (4) separate from that of the adjacent one hinging about a horizontal axis on the partition or container sidewall and coupled to an actuating mechanism. Thus the contents of the chambers can be discharged separately. The floors can be connected to the actuating mechanism by ropes chains levers, etc. which the actuating mechanism can have rams etc the same in number as the chambers.
