The machine tool has a number of working stations and a work feed. Each working station has controlled cross slides (5) carrying machining units (6). The units have, in addition to a headstock (15) clamped on the cross slide table, additional headstocks (19) which can be retracted. These headstocks are coupled in the working position to a common power unit (17).
