The circuit breaking assembly acts on faulty branches, coupled via disconnecting switches to a main line. A load switch is in series to each disconnecting switch in an insulating oil filled switching chamber of a fully insulating plastics housing (1). Each load switch is prestressed by an OFF spring, held in tensioned state by a switch-on pawl (16), which can be tripped by a circuit responding to over-current. The individual plastics housings of the assembly are interconnected by a coupling linkage (2) acting upong the individual pawls. On one pawl being tripped by the associated circuit (6), the pawls in the other housing are tripped independently of the state of their respective tripping circuits.
