The device contains a means (19) for the time-controlled incubation of a plurality of sample solutions. Each sample solution is a mixture of a sample having the antigen or antibody content which is to be tested, and a solution having a known concentration of labelled antigens or labelled antibodies. The device additionally contains a detector (3) which senses the presence of the sample in a sensing station and correspondingly triggers a time-control unit (48), and contains a means (51) for separating the measured solution into a portion where complexes have formed during the incubation and into a portion where no complexes have formed, as well as a measurement detector (35) which records the content of labelled material.
