Apparatus for sealing the entry or exit of a textile web into or out of a fluid pressure treatment chamber comprises a pair of rolls 1', 1" (see also Fig. 2, not shown) covered with soft resilient material e.g. of rubber situated outside the entry or exit slit 6 of the treatment chamber and a member 4 of soft elastic material e.g. rubber (see also Fig. 4, not shown) clamped to flanges adjacent the slit 6 and having lips 4' which are pressed against the opposed surfaces of the rolls by the pressure of the treatment fluid in the treatment chamber. At each end of the exit or entry slit there is a chamber 9 opens to receive treatment fluid from the treatment chamber via the member 4 and having a ring 10 of soft resilient material e.g. rubber pressed against the ends of the rolls 1', 1" and the member 4 by a spring 12 thus forming a seal in this region. The pressure of the treatment fluid in the chambers 9 also forces the rings 10 inwardly. In the described form (see Fig. 5 not shown) the web is passed through the treatment chamber in zig-zag fashion to be dyed, bleached or steamed.
