(c=0.5%, water); solubility; soluble in water and DMSO, insoluble in methanol, ethanol, etc.; color reaction: positive to Molisch's reaction and anthrone reaction; pKa: 4.2 (in an aqueous solution), basic; appearance: white powder. USE:Amylase inhibitor. Effective to obesity, hyperlipemia, diabetes, a gastric ulcer, etc. because said substance inhibits the activity of amylase and suppresses the amount of glucose in blood. PROCESS:Streptomyces calvus var. TM-521 (FERM-P No.4283) belonging to Streptomyces genus, is cultured under aerobic conditions, to obtain TAI-A. |
