PURPOSE:To change the address reading order of a main-scanning direction or a sub-scanning direction, to simplify the setting of recording paper and to prevent from taking space at a feeding table part by selecting the recording medium of size coincident with the copying magnification of original size and combining the setting direction of the recording medium and the setting direction of an original. CONSTITUTION:A white board for detecting size is read, white level correction with a filter is executed, and the maximum length of the original of a scanning direction (Y direction) and a direction (X direction) which is right angle to the scanning direction is detected. Till picture information is inputted to the one at least of storing means 52 and 53 once, a recording medium corresponding copying magnification is carried, and the picture information of the main- scanning addresses '0 address' to '(r) address' of a sub-scanning address '(n) address' is read as R.VD. When the only setting direction of the recording medium is different at the time when the detecting of the size of the original is finished, the picture information of the sub-scanning addresses '0 address' to '(n) address' of the main-scanning address '(r) address' is read as the R.VD. |
