<p>Transfer printing is used to imprint a coloured design onto a strip of material such as woven textile, non-woven paper, leather, plastic or metal foil or similar whilst the strip of being passed through a pleating mechanism. The material strip is fed into the machine from a roll and the paper strip carrying the transfer design is fed from another roll and is brought into contact with the material strip just before it enters the machine. The machine comprises a pleating mechanism and a fixing oven. At the back of the oven, there is a counter ram which compressed the pleats whilst they are being fixed by heat. A compromise temp. is selected in the oven suitable for both fixing the pleats and the colour transfer. The transfer paper is subsequently removed. The pleated material is used for sunshades, blinds etc. and the process enables a desired coloured design to be imposed on the pleated material during the mfg. stage.</p> |
