The arrangement is intended for supporting a wind-driven impeller (3). The support arm (4) is rotatable about horizontal and vertical axes (in D), and a fixed aerofoil wing section (6) is arranged upstream or downstream of the impeller. The arrangement is such that there is equilibrium between the couple caused by the horizontal reaction of the wind force on the impeller and vertical reaction of the wind force on the aerofoil section. The vertical reaction may, alternatively, be achieved by having the impeller axis inclined at an angle to the horizontal, having an annular shroud around the impeller or using an impeller with tip vanes.
