The mechanism is for the removal of swarf from cutting edges of cutting tools which revolve around a horizontal rotary axis. Adjacent the cutting tool (3) is a lever (10) which can pivot and has a brush (12) which can move over the cutting edge (4). The lever (10) is operated by a weight (21) so that based on the rotary movement of the cutting tool (3) the force of the weight (21) causes it to execute a predetermined pivot movement.
