<p>PURPOSE:To enable easy and low-cost production of the entitled heater by reducting the power capacity of elements in a pulse generating circuit by separating a power source for breaking a pilot glow discharge from a power source for feeding current after breakage of the discharge. CONSTITUTION:In a glow discharge heater, an a-c voltage from a main power source 4 is applied across main electrodes 1 and 2 to charge a capacitor 15 in a pulse generating circuit 6. With gate circuits 11 and 20 made to turn on a thyristor 8 and a transistor 18, the voltage boosted by a pulse transformer 17 is applied to an auxiliary electrode 3 so as to trigger a glow discharge across the main electrodes for heating. A current feeding circuit 24 comprising a current feeding transformer 25 for a pilot glow discharge is separated from a pulse generating circuit 6 used for breaking the pilot discharge.</p> |
