Mine working face dust extraction system - uses air sack encapsulating cutting machine, and dust extractor outside of sack

The system extracts dust generated when working a mine face by means of a cutting machine, esp. the rotary undercutting type. An air sack (13) is formed at the working face, in which the machine works in encapsulated conditions. Outside the sack is a dust extractor, with a pipe, pref. telescopic, extending into the sack so as to remove and separate the dust. Where the working face and gallery sections of the conveyor join this can have an air pipe with a fan generating an air cushion inside the sack. At the working platform (10) is a dust separator (14) of the wet or dry type, the whole system being controlled from a desk (15), pref. by the driver of the cutting machine.
