A tray for holding the tools and materials for working writing painting or any othre hobby is made of moulded plastics or from a steel pressing. The tray contains a large number of small compartments (4) arranged in rows and surrounded by a raised edge. Small ledges (13) are formed on the inner surface of the raised edges and support flat covers which can be used as work surfaces. The edges of the tray are fitted with small drawers (6) for small boxes (5) which fit closely between the sides of the drawers.
