Non-flammable sheet or felt of alkali silicate bonded and/or coated mineral fibre prods. are prepared using as the mineral fibres glass fibres contg. oxides of transition metals, in a process including rapid drying of the bonded mineral fibre body without druing the excess. The drying technique avoids prodn. of crystalline alkali silicate thus avoiding deterioration of the bonding, with consequent dusting.
