The expanding anchor bolt, has a cylindrical sleeve formed by strips joined together at the mouth and conical expander bodies at each end. That at the mouth end has the screwed shank from a counter sunk head passed loose through it to screw into the body at the other end, so as to pull them together. Between a flat shoulder on the underside of the screw head and the expander body at the mouth end is a sleeve sliding on the shank. A thin washer (42) fits over the shank (36) between the shoulder (40) on the counter sunk head (20) and the mouth end of the sliding sleeve (38). Its dia. is greater than that of the sleeve, but smaller than the maximum dia. of the head.
