The h.f. surgical appts. has an active treatment electrode and a body electrode, connected to each other via the patient and by active and neutral conductors to a h.f. generator. An auxiliary conductor with a hand-operated switch forms an auxiliary circuit with part at least of the active conductor, with a sensor reacting to the switch condition and switching the generator. The sensor (22) has a control circuit for the generator, switching the latter to a small residual voltage when the switch is closed, this switch (15) being opened on actuation. The auxiliary conductor (17) is connected galvanically or via capacitor (38) to the body electrode (24), whose resistance value is small compared with that of the patient (25).
