摘要 PURPOSE:To simply construct the safety mechanism for an automotive steering locking device so that a rotor may not rotate to the locking position accidentally during operation. CONSTITUTION:In order to lock a steering shaft 14, a locking button 32 is pressed to rotate a locking plate 31 against a spring 33 to thereby remove the projection 31a of the plate 31 out of the rotating trace of a raised portion 34. When a rotor 22 is rotated toward the locking position by a key 23, it disengages the cam 13a of a cam shaft 13 from a locking bar 16 to insert the bar 16 into the cutout 15a of a locking holder 15 by the operation of a spring 17 to cause the shaft 14 to become locked state. If the button 32 is released after the shaft 14 is locked, the plate 31 rotates counterclockwise by the tension of the spring 33 to allow the projection 31a to make contact on the sliding surface 34b of the portion 34 slidably.
