The traction motor is fed by an inverter. An incorporated alternating current generator has a drive for its rotor and an exciter for its field coil. The generator output current is rectified, which provides unsmoothed direct current to be fed to the inverter. The switching frequency of the inverter is so controlled as to obtain desired value of a basic frequency of the output A.C. The generator excitation current is so controlled that the basic amplitude of the generator output current, and thus also the mean value of the unsmoothed D.C. as well as the amplitude of the inverter output current, attains a desired value. The material, or imparted, inductivity of the D.C. supply has such a low value, as to be insufficient to smooth the D.C.
|
