The typewriter inking mechanism is for accurate typing in the legal sense, the inking ribbon, particularly one accommodated in a cassette, being transported through the typing position and wound from a storage to a receiving spool. It has a locking device (5) working with a portion of the ink ribbon spool or of a cassette (5) containing a lift-off inking strip. The latter incorporates an in adhering to the paper surface and removabl from it by means of adhesive tape. The locking device prevents the lift-off strip being brought into the working position.
