The tailless aircraft has a wing with a basically elliptical plan, or an approximation to this by way of trapezoidal plus rectangular elements. Over a distance of between 10 and 50%, pref. 25-30% of the semi-span adjoining the fuselage, the chord is increased to between 110 and 180%, pref. 120-150% of the corresp. theoretical elliptical chord. The transition from this section to the basic ellipsoidal one should be smooth. The wing may additionally be swept positively or negatively.
