<p>For stripping a coating, such as a metal plating material, from articles, such as shredded tin-plated cans, a drum rotatable about an inclined axis is arranged for agitating the articles whilst the drum rotates in one direction, and for discharging the articles whilst the drum rotates in the opposite direction. The drum has at least one inlet and at least one outlet for a fluid stripping reagent, which may be a heated alkaline solution of a quinone or a derivative thereof, with or without a delacquering agent. An electrochemical cell may be connected to the fluid outlet for the recovery by electrodeposition of the plating material. <IMAGE></p> |
