To protect plants in greenhouses simultaneously against harmful cold and heat and, by means of good illumination, to promote plant growth, the cover mat consists of an upper and lower transparent plastic film (2, 3) and a transparent non-woven fabric (1) laminated thereto. The films and the non-woven fabric together form a rollable unit. One plastic film (2) can have perforations (6) and can be adhesively bonded to the non-woven fabric (1). <IMAGE>
