A typewriter, using a consonant type resting in the upper position for typing both in the side and final position, was mfd. After typing a consonant and vowel alongside each other in the upper position, the final key(1) is depressed and the carriage body(3) is lifted at the center point(p) centering the striking point in the final position. A lever(4) is operated through link(2,2',2") connected to the key to move the platen to the left or right using a star-wheel(5).
