1518355 Laundry detergents PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 31 Oct 1975 [1 Nov 1974] 45317/75 Heading C5D [Also in Division Dl] A water insoluble particulate sorbitan ester fabric conditioning agent having a particle size from 5-2000 Á and a melting point from 38-100‹C, preferably together with a detergency builder and/or a detergent, is entrained on fabrics, e.g. as a suspension in an aqueous pre-soak, or wash medium, and confers softness and optionally antistatic benefits upon drying the fabrics at elevated temperatures in the range 38-100‹C e.g. in an automatic dryer. The preferred sorbitan esters are mixed mono- and di- and/or tri- and tetra esters of sorbitan with C 10 -C 26 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids, e.g. with lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic or behenic acids. The builder may be organic or inorganic and may be seeded. Of the many specified, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium nitrilotriacelate, calcium carbonate-seeded sodium carbonate and A-type zeolites are preferred. The detergent may be anionic, nonionic, ampholytic or zwitterionic and many are specified, particularly soaps, C 9 -C 15 alkyl benzene sulphonates, sulphated optionally ethoxylated C 8 -C 18 alcohols, and ethoxylated nonionics. The compositions may further contain bleach, e.g. perborate, enzymes and fillers. The sorbitan ester particles may contain an antistatic agent, e.g. a quaternary ammonium compound, incorporated therein. |
