PURPOSE:To enhance the magnetic characteristics of a precipitation hardening type misch metal (MM)-Co-Cu-(Fe) permanent magnet alloy based on MM-cobalt intermetallic cpds. by adding at least one of Zr, Hf, Nb and Ta to the alloy. CONSTITUTION:The alloy compsn. of a permanent magnet is determined as follows: misch metal; 28-38 wt%, Cu; 5-25%, Co; 32-66.8% (less than 20% of which may be replaced with Fe) and at least one of Zr, Hf, Nb and Ta; 0.2-5%. Assuming the total amt. of Ce, La, Nd and Pr as the principal elements of the misch metal to be 100%, the elements are as follows: Ce; 40-60%, La; 20-40%, Nd; 5-20% and Pr; 2-10%. This permament magnet maintains its high coercive force even if the Cu content is low and the Fe content high. |
