<p>PURPOSE:To remove impurities in a liquid metal with simple equipment by cooling the metal to the saturation temp. of the impurities in the liquid metal cooling tower of a liquid metal cooled fast breeder and further cooling it to below the saturation temp. in an impurities capturing tower. CONSTITUTION:Liquid Na for cooling a fast breeder is fed to cooling tower 2 and cooled to the saturation temp. of impurities contained. The cooled Na is supplied to impurities capturing tower 4, where it is cooled to below the saturation temp. in auxilliary cooling section 14 to precipitate the impurities, which are then captured in capturing section 5. The temp. of the liquid Na at the outlet of tower 2 is measured with impurities analyzer 13 and kept at the saturation temp. by opening or closing regulation valve 8 through controller 15. Analyzer 13 may be a block indicator, an electrochemical oxygen analyzer or hydrogen analyzer. The temp. of the Na at the outlet of section 14 is detected with temp. detector 7' and compared in controller 15 with the saturation temp. measured with analyzer 13, and in accordance with the signal, auxiliary cooling system regulation valve 8' is controlled to maintain the temp. at the outlet of section 14 at about 5 deg.C lower than the saturation temp.</p> |
