<p>Sliding doors for shelters such as aircraft hangers are provided with base supports which can tolerate motion normal to the plane of the door. The doors also have ancillary supports roughly level with the centre of gravity of the door which can absorb energy due to a pressure wave from e.g. a nearby bomb blast. Pref. the doors have a wide polished metal base plate riding over relatively narrow pads which pref. are of neoprene rubber with the working face covered with a low friction material, specifically 'teflon' (RTM-PTFE).</p> |
