Dyeing a spinning compn. of synthetic polyamide is difficult because of the reducing action of the melt. The 1:2 Cr complexes of o,o'-dihydroxymonoazo dyes, in which there is a sulfonamide group and another water-insolubilizing substituent or an alkane sulfonyl group or a fiber reactive acylamino group, were able to overcome this difficulty. Thus, 10 parts acetone contg. 2 parts 1:2-Cr complex(I) was used to pigment 98 parts polyamide chips an orange shade prior to melt spinning.
