The sealed vessel forms an integral part of a ship for transport of liquefied gas, etc. A primary sealing barrier is in contact with the contents and a secondary one is mounted between this and the supporting structure, alternating with insulating barriers. The secondary insulating barrier comprises rectangular insulating components fixed to the structure by components secured to the latter working with others along the edges of the insulating ones, which are sepd. by straight joint zones accommodating the fixing components. The primary insulating barrier comprises insulating components fixed elastically to the secondary sealing barrier. The sealing barriers are formed by metal strakes with edges bent over towards the inside of the vessel and welded along the edges to the two faces of a fin mechanically secured to the insulating barrier components. The insulating barrier components are of cellular material, one large face of each being covered by a plate of solid non-expanded material. The cellular material is towards the outside, and the small plates of the securing components act against the parallel edges of two adjacent component plates. The strake welding fins fit in grooves in the plates of the secondary insulating barrier components, at right angles to the joint zones.
